Ministry Leader - Esther Hamilton
Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.
(Proverbs 22:6) But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. (2 Timothy 3:14-15) Vision for the Children I believe Jesus Christ calls us to teach children, that worship is an important part of their life even at a very early age. Worship equips families to study, pray and grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ; and gives children and families the opportunity to serve and give generously. Sunday school attendance can be an indication of how important we feel Christian education is to our children and the next generation who we need to disciple and educate. It used to be that most un-churched teenagers knew who Jesus was because they had attended a Sunday school at some time in their life, but this next generation of children is not being given that opportunity because parents have other priorities and do not see a need for any spiritual foundation. We have a great challenge before us to do our part in drawing these children into our classes. The Sunday school department is now called Kidz 4 Christ Ministry. The ages are from 3-13 years old. The older class which is from ages 9-13 years is called The Next Generation. The next class down which is from ages 5-9 years and is called The Disciples and the new addition to the kids 4 Christ ministry is the younger class which is from ages 3-5 years and is called The Little Angels. The classes are run while the preaching is in progress with Sunday school starting at 2:30 and usually lasting for half an hour but sometimes 45 minutes. Children are introduced to worship using age appropriate lessons, bible crafts, prayers and Bible stories for a short 20-minute service. Then classes join together for snacks and songs and finally close together in prayer. A gifted team of teachers interactively present the Bible lessons to engage the children in seeing God’s work in a new light and equip them with a biblical world view. |
